PEARL – Pinch hitter Austin Roussel collected an RBI-single in the 10th inning to lift fourth seeded Southern Miss to an 8-7 win against
No. 8 seed Houston on Thursday at the Conference USA Baseball Championship.
Southern Miss (31-24) kept alive its chances of reaching the C-USA Championship title game. The Golden Eagles will face top-seeded Rice on Saturday at 7 p.m.
USM pitcher Bradley Roney (2-1) earned the victory in relief by allowing two runs on three hits, while striking out four in three innings.
Outfielder Michael Sterling paced Southern Miss with a career-high four hits.
