Southern Miss workout follows ‘good’ scrimmage

HATTIESBURG – A day after completing its first full scrimmage heading into the 2011 season, the Southern Miss football team returned to practice
Sunday morning in shoulder pads and shorts.
The Golden Eagles went through a 90-minute workout at the Joe P. Park Practice Facility as they continue to get ready for their season opener, Sept. 3, against Louisiana Tech.
“We had a really good practice,” said fourth-year coach Larry Fedora. “We had great tempo out there.”
After practice, Fedora said that he was able to look at the entire film of Saturday’s scrimmage and for the most part liked what he saw.
“There were some really good things,” said Fedora. “I was impressed with our effort overall. … There were some guys that made some plays on both sides of the ball.
The Golden Eagles planned a walk-through Sunday afternoon before enjoying a day off from the practice field today.
They’ll return to work Tuesday.
