Nominate prep athletes
for Players of Week honors
High school coaches are urged to nominate athletes for the Daily Journal's Players of the Week honors. The nomination deadline is noon Tuesday.

Submissions must include statistics from the past week, as well as season-to-date statistics. They can be faxed (842-2233) or e-mailed (brad.locke@djournal.com).

travel tryouts set for today
Tryouts for the Chesterville 13-14 travel team will be held at 1 p.m. today at the Chesterville ball field. For more information, call Buddy Dickerson at 321-2310 or Curt Owen at 213-8900.

Montevallo soccer holding
camp at Tupelo Sportsplex
The University of Montevallo soccer team will hold a camp today at the Tupelo Sportsplex. The camp, for boys and girls ages 4-12, is from 1-5 p.m. Cost is $25 per person, with full teams receiving a discounted rate.

West Union's Sexton
named Rookie of the Week
John Sexton, the former West Union standout and 2006 Daily Journal Player of the Year, earned Rookie of the Week honors from the Colonial Athletic Conference for his play last week.

The freshman guard for William & Mary averaged 10.5 points per game and shot 5 of 7 from 3-point range. He's 9-for-13 from downtown over his last six games.

Sexton is averaging 2.7 points per game coming off the bench for the Tribe, which is 13-9 overall and second in the CAA at 9-3.

COLLEGE BASEBALL

Rebel pitchers named to
pre-season All-America list
OXFORD – Ole Miss junior righthanders Lance Lynn and Cody Satterwhite saw their names show up on another pre-season All-America list by Baseball America, the publication announced on Friday.

It is the third pre-season All-America honor for Lynn who was also honored by Collegiate Baseball and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. Both Lynn and Satterwhite have also been named to the Wallace Award Watch List for the Brooks Wallace Award which honors the nation's top collegiate baseball player.

Lynn posted an 8-5 record last season and Satterwhite posted four saves and four wins in relief as a closer.

COLLEGE TENNIS

Rebels to open with UNC
at National Team Indoor

OXFORD – The Ole Miss men's team will be the No. 5 seed in next weekend's USTA/ITA National Team Indoor as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced the draw and times for the annual event on Friday.

Ole Miss will face 12th-seeded North Carolina in the first round.

Ole Miss is coming off their ninth straight Mississippi Cup win over Mississippi State Thursday. The Rebels downed the Bulldogs 4-0.
