• Blue Mountain College swept a baseball doubleheader from Williams Baptist on Friday by scores of 7-0 and 2-1.
Ben Wallis (Ripley) had three of the Toppers’ eight hits in the first contest to help pitcher Beau Cummings (Myrtle) earn the victory. Channing Sanders tossed a three-hitter in the nightcap and struck out eight.
BMC (5-4) hosts St. Catharine today at BNA Park in New Albany.
The doubleheader starts at 1 p.m.
• Delta State, top-ranked in Division II, opened its baseball season on Friday with an 11-1 win against Montevallo.
Jordan Moore (Calhoun City) worked four innings for the win, giving up one run on three hits with a walk and three strikeouts.
Ben Kingsley (Mooreville) drove in two runs in a 15-hit asssault by the Statesmen.
• The Ole Miss softball team lost to UAB 5-3 on Friday at the Oceanic Time Warner Cable Paradise Classic in Honolulu. Sophomore Allison Brown had a two-run homer for the Rebels (1-2
