• The Memphis women’s tennis team, led by senior Courtney Collins of Fulton, picked up its first-ever NCAA victory on Friday by beating Florida State 4-1 in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Collins beat Daneika Borthwick 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 singles.
• Northeast CC trailed Northwest 3-0 in the ninth inning on Friday when their game was suspended by rain at the MACJC state baseball tournament.
The contest resumes today at 1 p.m.
The loser is eliminated, while the winner advances to play the Pearl River-East Central loser at 5 p.m.
• Rain postponed Friday’s semifinals of the SEC softball tournament in Lexington, Ky., until today. Top-seeded Florida takes on Georgia at 10 a.m., while Tennessee faces Missouri at 1:30 p.m.
The winners play for the championship at 7 p.m. on ESPN.
