Stansbury on committee for hurricane relief effort

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State University men's basketball coach Rick Stansbury has been selected to participate on the organizing committee of “Coaches Care,” which has been formed to assist victims of last week's Hurricane Katrina.

With AllCoachNetwork.com and coaches all across America teaming up to raise money for the victims of Hurricane Katrina, a major online sports auction will highlight the effort. All of the proceeds from the upcoming online auction will go directly to Habitat for Humanity, a non-profit organization that builds homes for low income families.

The Web site AllCoachesCare.com has been created to provide more information on how to give coaches a place where they can make their contributions to the online auction, which will begin Wednesday, Sept. 14 on eBay. AllCoachNetwork.com will administer the auction in conjunction with Snappy Auctions e-Bay Drop-Off Stores.

Set to enter his eighth season as head basketball coach at Mississippi State, where he has guided the Bulldogs to four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances and four straight 20-win seasons, Stansbury will be offering a “Fishing with Coach” prize to the online auction. The prize will consist of a breakfast and lunch at the coach's house, followed by a fishing outing with Stansbury.

Headed by Virginia Tech men's basketball coach and committee chairman Seth Greenberg, the organizing committee also includes fellow college coaches John Brady (LSU), Brian Cleary (Cincinnati), Orlando Early (Louisiana-Monroe), Tim Floyd (Southern California), Frank Haith (Miami, Fla.), John Thompson III (Georgetown) and Willis Wilson (Rice). The organizing committee has already confirmed participation from many high profile coaches, including Duke's Mike Krzyzewski, Lute Olson of Arizona, Texas Tech's Bobby Knight, and Virginia Tech head football coach Frank Beamer.
