Starkville, Tupelo runners score cross country wins

STARKVILLE – The Tupelo boys suffered its first loss of the season to an in-state school Saturday at the Starkville Invitational cross country meet.
Run at the Mississippi State Horse Park, Starkville totaled 42 points to edge Tupelo with 44 in a 10-team field.
Individually, Tupelo’s Andrew White cruised to victory over a 5K course with a 16 minutes, 57 seconds time.
In the girls race, Tupelo continued its strong late-season showing with 40 points, with Starkville in second with 62 out of 11 teams. Kate Mattox of Starkville won the 4K event with a 15:06; Tupelo’s Christina Daniels was second in 15:17.
The high school state meet is Nov. 5 in Clinton.
