STARKVILLE – Edward Townsel wanted to be absolutely sure he found the right college for him, so he took his time in finding one.
On Thursday, the Starkville High senior guard made his decision official by signing with the Arkansas State basketball program.
“It was a tough deal for him,” said Starkville High coach Greg Carter. “It kind of took him a while because he wanted to make sure he’s positive he’s doing the right thing, going to the right place.”
Louisiana-Lafayette and Louisiana Tech were among Townsel’s final choices.
The Daily Journal first-team All-Area selection averaged 19 points, 7.9 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 4.0 steals this season for the MHSAA 6A state and Grand Slam champion Yellowjackets.
