TUPELO – Tupelo High School’s football field will not turn blue until next month.
The project to install a blue turf field at the school, as well as a new golden-colored track surface, has been delayed by the significant amount of rain Tupelo has had this summer, Athletic Director Andy Schoggin said at Tuesday’s School Board meeting. The project’s tentative completion date is now scheduled for the second week of August, he said. The original date was July 28.
Workers have been applying the subsurface that goes underneath the turf, Schoggin said. The blue turf should be delivered during the next couple of days, Schoggin said, and workers will then begin to install it.
“I feel good about what I see,” he said.
Tupelo’s first home football game is on Aug. 29.
