Tigers, Rangers win to set up big North division game

Northeast and Northwest both won on Thursday night to set up a big MACJC North Division showdown next Thursday in Booneville.
– Northwest 37, Coahoma 7: The 10th-ranked Rangers (4-0, 2-0) won in Senatobia, as Brent Osborn passed for 193 yards and three touchdowns.
Myles White caight two of those, for 7 and 32 yards in the first half, as Northwest raced to a 27-0 halftime lead.
The Rangers got 107 yards rushing on 13 carries from Calvin Malone and Jay Jones added 9 carries for 98 yards, including a 78-yard run, to go with a 7-yard TD catch. The Rangers piled up a 525-327 edge in total offense.
– Northeast 35, Holmes 20: The Tigers (3-1, 2-0) won on the road as Ripley’s Jaquise Cook rushed for 85 yards and two touchdowns (3, 15) and Clint Wilson passed for 260 yards and a TD.
Brynden Trawick returned an interception 67 yards for a touchdown early in the third quarter to help break open a 15-14 contest.
Holmes turned the ball over five times (three interceptions, two fumbles).
Jeremy Spikner had two of those pickoffs for the Tigers.
Northeast held a 395-319 edge in total offense.
