Akeem Judd, the top-rated junior college running back in the country, gave a verbal commitment to Ole Miss on Sunday.
Judd announced his decision on his Twitter page, where he said he prayed and looked the pros and cons of other options before making his commitment.
He told Rivals.com that the family atmosphere he felt at Ole Miss was a big factor in his decision.
Verbal commitments are non-binding. At 5-foot-11, 215 pounds, Judd is bigger now than any back presently on the Ole Miss roster.
Judd’s commitment became the fifth over the weekend for the Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze. Earlier the Rebels gained commitments from Bassfield twins Alvin Moore and Calvin Moore, Alvin a linebacker-defensive back and Calvin an athlete.
The Rebels also got a commitment Saturday from Olive Branch linebacker-defensive back Alfred Dickens and received word earlier from Oxford’s Dakaylin Metcalf, an athlete, and the son of former Ole Miss offensive lineman Terrance Metcalf.
Judd’s commitment brings the total number of commits to 14, and the class is ranked No. 11 by Rivals.com.
