Two Hound Dogs players earn weekly UIFL honors

A pair of Mississippi Hound Dogs players were honored as UIFL South Division players of the week on Monday, after the team’s first victory last weekend at home.
Quarterback Jami Boland (Nettleton, ICC) and linebacker Brandon Bruce (Tupelo, ICC) were honored by the league office for their efforts in a 53-6 victory over the visiting Rome (Ga.) Rampage.
Boland completed 12 of 18 passes for 199 yards and seven touchdowns. Bruce scored the game’s first touchdown by returning a blocked kick and finished with nine tackles, a sack and a forced fumble.
The Hound Dogs (1-3) continue a four-game homestand on Friday night with a visit from the Florida Tarpons (2-0).
Kickoff at BancorpSouth Arena is set for 7:30 p.m.
