MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Troy and UAB both will play in the NIT.
The Blazers (23-8) will host Coastal Carolina (28-6) Tuesday night in the first round. Troy (20-12) travels to Mississippi (21-10) on Wednesday.
UAB was holding out NCAA tournament hopes until a first-round dismissal at the Conference USA tournament.
The Trojans’ only suspense was their destination thanks to a first-place regular season Sun Belt Conference finish.
Troy had an eight-game win streak ended with a 66-63 loss to North Texas in the league tournament championship game to keep the Trojans from earning an automatic NCAA berth.
It’s Troy’s first NIT trip since the 2003-04 season.
Alabama was shut out of the field in Anthony Grant’s first season.
