MADISON – Ole Miss senior standout Jonathan Randoph is in the field today as the PGA’s Viking Classic tees off at Annandale Golf Club.
Playing as an amateur on a sponsor’s exemption, Randolph tees off at 8:40 a.m. in a group with former Rebels standout Vance Veazey and PGA Tour rookie Chris Wilson.
“I hope I have a bunch of people out there watching me, and I hope I can show them something,” said Randolph, an All-American who got the invitation from Viking Classic tournament director, Randy Watkins last week. “It’s always been a dream of mine to play in this tournament.”
Randolph’s Ole Miss teammate Chris Mullhaupt will serve as his caddy.
The other golfers in the 131-man field, including fan favorite John Daly, will be vying for a $648,000 winner’s purse.
The Viking Classic, which was raine dout a year ago, is the first of five PGA Fall Series tournaments that follow the end of the FedEx Cup competition. Some players in the field this week are still fighting for their 2011 PGA Tour cards.
