BLUE MOUNTAIN – The defending NAIA women’s national champions from Union extended their winning streak to 20 games with Saturday’s 98-57 win at Blue Mountain. It was part of a doubleheader sweep for Union.
The top-ranked Lady Bulldogs (20-1, 7-0 TranSouth), who loset their season-opener to Vanderbilt, led 47-26 at halftime. Kaitlin Dudley was one of six Union players in double figures with 22 points to go with10 rebounds.
For Blue Mountain (8-11, 1-4), Katelyn Wright had 11 points and 7 rebounds.
In the men’s game, BMC remained winless, falling 76-62 to No. 18 Union.
Greg Truvillion led the Bulldogs (15-6, 6-1) with 22 points and 14 rebounds. For the host Toppers (0-21, 0-5), Renell Collins scored a game-high 31 points and Lakendrick McCullum added 17 points and 11 rebounds
Union built a 15-point lead in the second half, but the Toppers made it 61-55 when Collins hit his fifth 3-pointer with 3:53 to go. The Bulldogs responded with an 8-0 run to put the game out of reach.
BMC travels to Henderson, Tenn., on Monday to take on Freed-Hardeman University.
