JACKSON, Miss. — Actor Morgan Freeman and former Mississippi wildlife agency chief Billy Joe Cross are among eight people will be presented conservation awards from Memphis-based Ducks Unlimited.
The Heroes of Conservation awards will be presented Aug. 1 at 6 p.m. at the Hilton Hotel in Jackson.
Others to be honored are Toxey Haas, CEO of West Point, Miss.-based Haas Outdoors; Richard “Rick” Kaminski, associate dean and professor of wildlife at Mississippi State University; Will Primos, founder of Primos Hunting Calls; Bill Sugg, president of Haas Outdoors; Melvin Tingle, host of Mississippi Outdoors television show; and William E. Walker Jr. (posthumously), founder of the Walker Conservation Foundation and Bill’s Dollar Stores.
