GULFPORT — The Bernard Blackwell All-Star Football Classic, which has been played in the Jackson area since 1950, will be played in Gulfport on Dec. 19.
Mississippi Association of Coaches Executive Director Johnny Mims told The Sun Herald newspaper that the game could be rotated to other coast cities in the future.
The game is an in-state all-star football game for high school seniors, featuring a North vs. South format.
The game has usually been played in July. In the past, it has been played at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium in Jackson, Mississippi College in Clinton and Madison Central High School.
Mims says an advantage of the game in December is that it gives senior players one more chance to impress college recruiters.
