JACKSON — Dylan Favre threw for 369 yards, scored five touchdowns and St. Stanislaus beat Lafayette County 35-16 to win the Mississippi Class 4A state championship on Saturday.
The Rock-a-chaws (14-1) won the school’s first football title behind the arm and legs of Brett Favre’s nephew. Dylan finished with 51 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. He was also 19 of 37 with three passing touchdowns, including a 70-yard score to Krisjon Wilkerson early in the fourth quarter to ice the game.
The Commodores (14-2), who were playing for their first championship, had four turnovers including three inside the Stanislaus 3-yard line. The last fumble by Sam Booker came early in the fourth quarter with the Commodores trailing 21-7.
Lafayette’s Jeremy Liggins threw for 125 yards and rushed for 28 more.
