UPDATE:Bulldogs edge Wildcats 6-5 in doubleheader opener

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Jason Nappi had three hits, including his eighth home run of the season, to lead visiting Mississippi St. to a 6-5 win over Kentucky in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday.

Tyler Moore added three hits for the Tigers (14-15, 3-7 Southeastern Conference) and Conner Powers had two hits and an RBI for Mississippi State.

John Lalor (1-2) earned the win in relief of starter Chad Crosswhite.

Collin Cowgill hit his 11th homer of the year for the Wildcats (23-5, 5-5 SEC). Chris McClendon had three hits and knocked in two runs for Kentucky. Brock Baber (1-2) took the loss, allowing two runs in relief of starter Chris Rusin.
