LONDON – Houston’s Shaquille Vance, battling a hamstring pull, ran a season best 13.03 but finished eighth on Friday in the 2012 Paralympics men’s T42 100 meters.
Vance, the American gold medalist in the 100, was the final qualifier in Friday’s heats in 13.17. He lost a leg in 2009 in a pickup football accident.
Henrich Popw (12.40) of Germany won the gold medal, followed by Australia’s Scott Reardon (12.43) and Germany’s Wojtek Czyz.
Vance, 21, won a silver in the 200 last week and also finished sixth in the shotput.
