Western Kentucky visits Ole Miss for pair of games

OXFORD – The last time Western Kentucky played baseball at Swazye Field it pushed the home team to the brink of postseason elimination.
But Ole Miss ace Drew Pomeranz, pitching on three days’ rest, struck out 16 Hilltoppers, and the Rebels earned an Oxford Regional championship.
Ole Miss and Western Kentucky meet again this week for a two-game series at Swayze Field.
Game times today and Wednesday are 6:30 p.m.
Ole Miss is 10-3 following a 2-1 series loss against Tulane over the weekend. The Green Wave held the Rebels to seven runs on 20 hits in three games.
Western Kentucky, off to a 6-5 start, was known for its powerful offense two years ago. This year the Hilltoppers are averaging 7.8 runs. They have losses to SEC opponents Vanderbilt (6-5) and Auburn (13-8) and a win (6-3) against Lipscomb, which is in Oxford for three games this weekend.
