Rebels in the zone
with late-inning rallies
n MEMPHIS – Another night at the ballpark, another late rally for Ole Miss. The Rebels (19-8) tied Wednesday’s game at AutoZone Park with a run in the ninth, then scored one in the top of the 10th to defeat Memphis, 7-6. Ole Miss scored twice in the ninth to beat Jackson State, 8-7, on Tuesday.
Zach Miller led off the 10th with a single. After two fly outs, Miller stole second and scored on Jordan Henry’s RBI single. In the ninth, Logan Power (fielder’s choice) moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on Kyle Henson’s RBI single. Henson was 2-for-4 with 3 RBI.
Jake Morgan struck out five of six Tigers he faced to get the win.
n MSU loses at Monroe: A six-run seventh inning spelled defeat for Mississippi State on Wednesday, in a 7-1 loss at Louisiana-Monroe.
Warhawks junior Don Williams (3-0) threw a complete-game seven-hitter, giving up a Ryan Duffy home run in the third. Williams threw 125 pitches, striking out nine and walking one.
For MSU (15-13), starter Forrest Moore allowed just two hits and struck out 11 in the first six innings before ULM (16-11) got to the Bulldogs’ bullpen.
n Southern Miss sweeps: The Golden Eagles (18-9) improved to 8-0 on the road this season, beating Troy 10-4 and 8-0. Senior Brian Dozier, from Fulton, went 2-for-7 with two runs and two RBIs.
