Man killed in bulldozer accident

RIPLEY – A man who lived in the Pine Grove community was killed in a farm accident Friday when he was run over by a bulldozer. C. Michael Bennett, 36, had been working on the bulldozer trying to get it cranked, said Tippah County Coroner David Hubbard. Once it cranked, it took off, knocked Bennett over and ran over him. Bennett’s body was discovered at his farm off County Road 627 in the Pine Grove community shortly after 5 p.m. by his father-in-law, 4th District Supervisor Dennis Grisham, Hubbard said. The dozer was still running. Bennett was vice president of Grisham Asphalt and Paving and was co-owner with Grisham of Pine View Farms. Bennett was pronounced dead at the scene, and no autopsy was performed. However, Hubbard said he is ordering a toxicology report.
