Two juveniles charged in Blue Mtn. school break-in

BLUE MOUNTAIN – Two juveniles have been charged in connection with a break-in at Blue Mountain School earlier this month. Many of the items taken have been recovered, authorities said this week. Both the juveniles are 16, and former students of the school. Cash, cell phones, I-Pods and a digital camera were taken during the break-in, according to County Investigator Jason Willis and Blue Mountain Police Chief Mac Lowery. Added Sheriff Karl Gaillard: “These arrests demonstrate that cooperation between departments can be an asset in solving these types of crimes.” In other law enforcement news: – A Blue Mountain man faces charges after authorities found him unconscious in his vehicle, and then later found drugs on him, Tippah authorities said. Donald P. Sappington, 67, is charged with possession of controlled substance, possession of beer, public drunkenness and possession of paraphernalia. He is free on $5,000 bond, according to county jail records. A passer-by advised authorities Friday morning, April 17,of a car in a field off County Road 700 close to County Road 726 near Cotton Plant.. Deputy Dewayne Crenshaw was dispatched, and found Sappington unconscious in the front seat. A syringe and other items for the injection of narcotics were found on the man, and he was transported to the Tippah County Jail. At the jail, Dilaudid and Methodone tablets were found on him, which led to the felony drug charge. Sheriff Karl Gaillard expressed his appreciation to the passer-by whose tip led to the arrest. “When citizens call in something they consider suspicious, they serve as our eyes and ears and help law enforcement officers serve the public better,” he said. –Emergency service personnel have made several runs in recent days, according to fragmentary information. A car ran off Miss. 2 East near the intersection with CR 773 early Tuesday. Ripley volunteer firefighters were dispatched to the scene. –Monday, A house fire was reported on County Road 501 about 10 p.m. Tuesday. Ripley volunteer firefighters were dispatched to the scene. A motorcycle ran off County Road 741 about mid-afternoon Wednesday, April 22. The cyclist was reported to have been airlifted from the scene. A traffic wreck was reported at the Miss. 15-CR 410 intersection about noon Thursday. Efforts to learn more about these calls weren’t successful.
