Where Safe Routes to School work will be done

BLUE MOUNTAIN — The grant will finance the construction or reconstruction of about one mile of standard four-foot sidewalks in the blocked residential areas that surround the school. Many of the sidewalks, built in the 1930s during Roosevelt’s Works Progress Administration (WPA) are unlevel, broken, and generally unsafe. As a result, may residents choose to walk in the streets. The grant calls for the following sidewalk construction: – on the south side of Mill Street from West Main Street to a student drop-off. – on the east side of First Street from Mill Street to West Main Street. – on the east side of Second Street from Mill Street to West Main Street. – on the west side of College Street from Mill Street to West Main Street. – pavement markings, signage, drainage and erosion control work.
