Null honored for work

RIPLEY – The Board of Trustees of the Tippah County Hospital recognized an employee for outstanding service, according to minutes of the board’s Monday, May 4 meeting, which are the most recent ones available. Those present were: Vicki Skinner, Roger Childs, Norris Howell, Harold Wayne Hankins, Ray Crawford, and Jimmy Hill. Absent from the meeting were Charles Knight, Chip Holmes, Tom Hood, and Fred C. Permenter, Jr. A quorum was declared present for the transaction of business and the invocation was given by Trustee Ray Crawford. The first order of business was for Administrator and CEO Tom Hood to recognize the Employee of Excellence for the Tippah County Hospital for April, 2009. Becky Null was designated by her peers as the Employee of Excellence for the Tippah County Hospital for April, 2009. This week, Hood said Mrs. Null is an account specialist in the hospital’s business office, and has worked at the hospital since 1995. “She helps people with their insurance problems, helps them understand their insurance information, and files insurance claims. “Dealing with insurance can be a complicated process, but she makes it personal. She’s willing to work with patients about insurance issues to make sure things are done right, and that the insurance beneficiaries get what is rightfully theirs.” Even though she was not in attendance at the meeting the administrator advised the board that he would present her with the appropriate plaque in recognition of her many years of service to the Tippah County Hospital. In the next topic of business, Hood advised the board that a substantial amount of property had been found to be surplus property by the hospital staff. After a review of the list and discussion by the board, the administrator was authorized to declare a list of items as surplus equipment and sell same through a countywide sale to be held on June 6, 2009. Hood said this week the sale netted $2,055, which would go toward general expenses of the hospital. The board entered into an executive session for the purpose of discussing personnel matters and legal issues. The executive session was later concluded. Based upon the recommendation of the Tippah County Hospital Medical Staff and review by the Board of Trustees, trustees granted Tippah County Hospital privileges to the following personnel, to-wit: 1. Dr. Jeffrey Scrugham – Appointment – Radiology; 2. Dr. Charles Currie – Reappointment – Radiology; 3. Dr. Michael Edwards – Reappointment – Radiology. The final order of business for the night was to elect officers for the Tippah County Hospital Board. The following slate of officers were proposed and elected by unanimous vote of all board members present, to-wit: Norris Howell – Chairman; Harold Wayne Hankins – Vice-Chairman; Jimmy Hill – Secretary. Hood then gave the CEO Report for the month. The reading of the minutes of the meeting of April 6, 2009, was waived. It was noted that all members of the Board had received copies of the minutes prior to the meeting for their review. The floor was then turned over to Charles Knight who presented the Fiscal and Statistical Report for the month of March, 2009. The report was reviewed and discussed and approved. The meeting was adjourned until Monday, June 1, 2009, at 6 p.m.
