County to acquire 20 new voting machines

RIPLEY – Tippah County supervisors have agreed that a price tag of $1,400 each for new voting machines is too good to pass up. The board on Friday authorized County Administrator Jim Owen to buy 20 new machines at the reduced rate. They had previously paid $2,800 each for new machines, and on two occasions had to rent 20 machines at $500 each to handle higher-than-usual voter turnout. Owen said the state’s original vendor, Premier Election Solutions, was offering the discounted price through July, and recommended the purchase.
