UPDATE: Tenn. woman loses appeal in Mississippi court

JACKSON — The Mississippi Supreme Court has rejected convicted murderer Judy Wilbanks’ argument that she deserved a new trial because her confession was involuntary. Wilbanks, of Savannah, Tenn., pleaded guilty in 2003 in Tippah County to capital murder and aggravated assault. She was sentenced to life without parole for capital murder and 20 years for aggravated assault with sentences to run concurrently. Wilbanks was charged in the 2001 fatal shooting of Jesse Hardon and the wounding of his wife, Imogene, at the couple’s home.
