SCOREBOARD for Jan. 31: Ripley,BMHS Cougars win make up games

(G) Ripley 48, Itawamba AHS 46: The Lady Tigers led by 13 at the break, but had to fight off a pesky Lady Indians squad at the end. Itawamba outscored Ripley 26-15 in the second half, including a 14-5 fourth quarter. Ripley won over Itawamba for the second time in six days. Saturday, Jan. 26, the Lady Tigers won 45-39 at the By His Grace Girls’ Classic at North Pontotoc.

(B) Ripley 61, Itawamba AHS 51: The Ripley Tigers (15-9) win snapped a three-game losing streak.

(G) South Pontotoc 53, Blue Mountain 38: Tycorius Williams led Blue Mountain with 16 points. Brittany Brown added 12.

(B) Blue Mountain 76, South Pontotoc 52: Twelves were wild in Blue Mountain, Thursday as Taije Berry, Jacob Girley, Ismael Ruedas and Treario McClinton each scored 12 points for the Cougars (22-3). Gage Welch had 17 for South Pontotoc.

(G) Booneville 49, Walnut 42: The Walnut Lady Wildcats led 20-18 at halftime, but the Lady Devils used a 16-2 third-quarter run to take control. Shelby Wilbanks led Walnut with 13 points. Morgan Burroughs added 10. Jasmine Allen had 16 points for Booneville.

(B) Booneville 82, Walnut 45:  Denzell Siddell scored 19 of his 21 points in the second half. Kenny Paul Geno led Booneville with 21 points.

Saturday, the Pine Grove Lady Panthers (20-7) will participate in the Robertson’s Sportswear 16th Annual Lady Challenge. All proceeds go to the fight against cancer. The Lady Panthers face East Union at 10 a.m. at North Pontotoc High School.

Featured games at the event include Starville Academy (30-0) vs. Memphis Home School at 2 p.m., Southaven vs. Hoover, Ala. at 4:30 p.m. and Pontotoc vs. Choctaw Central at 7:15 p.m.
