NASHVILLE – For all the bad memories Ole Miss has had at Memorial Gym, Tuesday night was one to savor.

Marshall Henderson’s buzzer-beating 3-pointer from deep beyond the key forced overtime, and Ole Miss completed a comeback from a 13-point deficit to beat Vanderbilt 89-79 at Memorial Gym.

"I didn't actually shoot it the way I wanted to shoot it," Henderson said. "I didn't have any rotation on it. I just kind of floated in there, but I'll take it."

Ole Miss coach Andy Kennedy said Henderson, the junior college transfer, is the player everyone wanted to take that shot.

"He's a gunslinger, and that's what he's here for," Kennedy said.

The Rebels had not won here since 2001, the season they advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament.

Hoping to get back in the big dance for the first time since 2002, Ole Miss (14-2, 3-0 SEC) is off to a 3-0 start in SEC play for the first time since 2006.

Ole Miss outscored Vanderbilt 11-1 in the overtime period. Freshman guard Kevin Bright got Vandy off on a good foot with a 3-pointer, but Marshall Henderson answered with a 3 of his own, and it was off to the races for Ole Miss.
