BALDWYN – One person died and two others were injured in a late-night Saturday crash in Baldwyn.

The one-vehicle crash happened around 11 p.m. on Baldwyn-Ripley Road.

Prentiss County Coroner Greg Sparks said Ashley Gaston, 23, of Memphis, was killed due to blunt-force trauma in the crash. An autopsy is scheduled.

Two others in the car were transported to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Their conditions were unknown on Sunday.

According to officials, Gaston was a passenger in the vehicle. The vehicle drove past a parked police car at a high rate of speed and when the officer reached the vehicle, the driver already had lost control and crashed.
