MRI results showed that Ole Miss freshman forward Anthony Perez has a Grade 1 sprain of his medial collateral knee ligament (MCL).

He’s listed as day to day, Rebels coach Andy Kennedy said.

Perez got tangled up with Texas A&M forward Ray Turner as the two battled for a rebound in the Rebels’ 82-73 win. Perez’ knee buckled, and he was helped to the locker room.

Perez and Terry Brutus, another freshman, have gotten the reserve post minutes that would otherwise have gone to more experienced players Demarco Cox and Anthony Jones, who are both injured.

Perez averages 2.0 points, 1.6 rebounds and 7.2 minutes.

Ole Miss next plays Saturday at 4 at Mississippi State.
