TUPELO – A woman charged in connection with another woman’s September assault in the Pratts community, which included setting her on fire, bonded out of the Lee County Jail on Thursday morning.

The bond for Cherie Clark, 40, of Baldwyn was reduced to $50,000 from $500,000.

The amount was agreed upon by the District Attorney’s office and Clark’s attorney after she filed a writ of habeas corpus – a writ filed when someone feels a bond is set at a level so high it has the same effect as having no bond at all. Her request for a reduced bond was denied last month by Justice Court Judge Sadie Holland.

The writ was signed by Judge Thomas Gardner on Thursday morning. She left the jail shortly after 11 a.m.
