WEST POINT - Mayor Scott Ross has taken a personal leave from his duties for an undetermined amount of time, according to the West Point Daily Times Leader.

Vice-Mayor Keith McBrayer will serve as mayor during Ross' absence. City Attorney Orlando Richmond told the newspaper that there is no specific limitation on how long a mayor can take a leave. Richmond said he did not know when Ross would return.

The city sent out a release on Thursday afternoon. The reason for Ross' leave or when it actually began were not provided.

Ross is also a member of the board of trustees for the Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning.
