• Several special votes will be on Tuesday's ballots. In the Lafayette, Lee and Prentiss elections, a runoff will be held Nov. 23 if no candidate wins a majority of the vote Tuesday:

• Calhoun County voters will pick a county attorney. On the ballot are interim county attorney Tina Scott, who was appointed after the death of Terry James in 2009, and Ben Suber.

• Lafayette County will select a coroner from a field of three candidates that includes the current officeholder and his predecessor. Running are Lonnie Weaver, who resigned because of legal problems; Otis "Rocky" Kennedy, his interim replacement; and Richard Shivers.

• A Lee County District 1 constable will be chosen from a field of nine candidates, including interim Flossie Joyner. She was appointed to the job after her husband, Constable Bobby Joyner, who died while in office.

• Prentiss County will select a new school superintendent to replace Matt Smith, who resigned earlier this year. In the field are interim Superintendent Billy Stroupe, Kenneth Chism, Randle Downs and Rivers Stroup.

• Tippah County will have a referendum on whether to recombine the offices of tax assessor and tax collector. The assessor-collector offices were split in 2002, but recombining them has been suggested as a way to save money. If the idea is approved, an assessor-collector will be elected in November 2011.
