Tippah County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the scene believed to be near Hell Creek Wildlife Management Area shortly after noon. The subject appeared to have been severely beaten. The body was taken for an autopsy in Jackson.
No arrests have been made as of 4 p.m. Sunday.
Tippah County Sheriff Karl Gaillard said Sunday the investigation was continuing.
Investigator Jason Willis said the coroner will transport the body to Jackson for an autopsy.
Willis declined to give information on a possible cause of death, except to say officer are treating case as a homicide.
