Sykes' bond was set by Judge Adrian Haynes at $10,0000. The bond amount was confirmed by both Aberdeen Police Chief Henry Randle and Monroe County Sheriff Andy Hood.
He is the son of Aberdeen Ward 1 Alderman Alonzo Sykes, who was with his son when he turned himself in.
According to Randle, Sykes' was being booked into the Monroe County Detention Center where he is expected to make bond and be released.
Sykes and Andre Tolen are wanted in connection with the October 30 shooting of Alan Walker, aka P-Man. Walker was shot multiple times on Martin Luther King Drive. He was transported to a hospital in Memphis but Randle said he is now recovering at home.
Randle said that Tolen has not been arrested but that the authorities are closing in on his whereabouts.
Randle said the shooting was "drug-related."
Sykes, 31, 7159 Maple Grove Road, Olive Branch, was arrested Monday, November 1 by officers with the Aberdeen Police Department for possession of a controlled substance which Randle said were prescription painkillers.
According to a source close to the victim, both Walker and Sykes are alleged member of the gang Bar None.
Evidence collected against Sykes will go before the Monroe County Grand Jury.
