Hatch has made his Christian faith a part of everything he does, even in his job as entertainer.
"It's all about showing God's love," he said.
Religion has always been an important part of Hatch's life, especially as a child growing up in Ripley.
"I first started going to church in Ripley when I was a little guy," said Hatch, 41. "I took an interest in playing guitar in church."
His love for music has led him to perform in bands, both in and out of church.
His first serious band was Alvis Hatch amp& the Grace-Based Band, and now he has a new group, Alvis Hatch & Xceleration.
Xceleration is more secular, playing mostly a blend of jazz, Ramp&B, funk and rock, but that doesn't mean it's any less religious.
"My music always crosses boundaries," he said.
Hatch also plays in a worship band at his church, Faith Bible Church.
Hatch and his wife, Sheryl, have two children, Danielle, 12, and A.J., 2, but the couple longed for a date night for themselves.
"We wanted a place to hang out, but we wanted somewhere clean," Hatch said.
It was out of that desire that the Hatches came up with the idea of "A Night to Remember."
"It's for couples and singles to have fun in a clean atmosphere," he said.
The monthly events feature music, food and games for the 18-and-up crowd.
"No offense to kids," Hatch said, smiling.
Otherwise, everyone is invited. Hatch refuses to turn anyone down.
"This is for all types of people. It's for anybody who wants a clean place to have fun," he said.
Entrance to the events is $7, and the last two were at the St. Paul Life Center in Tupelo.
Hatch said he'd like to move the event to other venues and cities, not just for a change of scenery but to reach out to as many folks as possible.
"It's getting people out of the four walls of the church. We can be Christians but still have fun in a clean matter," he said.
Hatch may be offering entertainment to the area in his band or through his "Night to Remember" events, but he said no matter what, his faith shines through.
"I'm a Christian first," he said. "I just have a standard of doing things in a Christian manner."
