SALTILLO – Saltillo High School has been nominated by the Mississippi Department of Education to apply for recognition as a national Blue Ribbon School.

The nomination was based on the school’s scores on the state standardized tests administered during the 2009-10 school year. Saltillo High will be the first school in the Lee County School District to apply for the honor, the highest one that the Department of Education presents to high-achieving schools.

Saltillo High is one of four schools in Mississippi nominated by the MDE to apply, Principal Tim DeVaughn said. Winners will be announced in the fall of 2011.
