Mike Rhea, 44, who was being held in the Monroe County Jail, bonded out over the weekend. He was head of the Work Center.
According to Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson, an internal audit revealed that funds had been misappropriated from the Work Center. He said the funds had been funneled through another account. It is unclear how much money was allegedly embezzled but Johnson said it may be somewhere around $3,000.
The case will be presented to the next grand jury.
