JACKSON — Friends and family are cheering for a Mississippi man who shed the most weight this season the NBC show "The Biggest Loser."

Patrick House of Vicksburg was announced Tuesday night as winner of the months-long competition. He dropped 181 pounds, or 45.3 percent of his original weight of 400. The 28-year-old is 6 feet, 2 inches tall.

House is a Brandon native and Delta State University graduate. He says in an e-mail to The Clarion-Ledger newspaper that the weight loss improves his health and gives him a longer life with his family.

Mississippi is the most obese state in the nation. House says that during the competition, he wanted to show that the state "has fighters and people who make a difference."
