TUPELO – Natchez Trace Parkway officials are looking for a vehicle involved in a Wednesday afternoon hit-and-run that left a cyclist injured.

About 1:25 p.m. on the Natchez Trace near Cliff Gookin Boulevard, a person was hit while riding a bicycle just south of Tupelo High School. According to authorities, the victim’s injuries were serious but not life-threatening. The victim’s name was not released.

Authorities are looking for a dark burgundy Ford F-150 in connection with the hit and run. Police said the truck should have considerable front-end damage as well as damage to the passenger side door.

This is the first bicycle accident on the Trace since two fatalities in 2009.
