Thursday night’s wintry mix caused several high school sporting events to be postponed on Friday.

The Ripley at Belmont basketball games originally scheduled for Friday night have been postponed to Jan. 27 due to South Tippah School District canceling school on Friday because of the weather.

The Ripley-Belmont rescheduled girls game will start at 7, with the Division 1-3A schools’ boys teams playing at 8:30 in Belmont. The reason for the late start is the five-county junior high basketball tournament being played earlier that day.

With Kossuth not being in school on Friday due to the weather, the Aggies had to move their Friday Division 1-3A away games with Booneville to tonight. The girls game will tip off at 6 in Booneville, with the boys contest to immediately follow.

Thursday’s weather also affected the Pontotoc soccer teams’ schedules. The Warriors will play host to New Albany this morning/early afternoon before heading to Ecru to take on North Pontotoc later this afternoon.

The Pontotoc-New Albany girls match will start at 11 and the boys game will kick off at 1 p.m. The Pontotoc-North Pontotoc girls match is slated to begin at 3, with the boys contest to follow.
