According to Mississippi Highway Patrolman Ray Hall, troopers responded to the accident at the intersection of state Highways 9 and 341 in Pontotoc County about 3:15 a.m.
Kenneth J. Underwood, 39, was taken to North Mississippi Medical Center where he later died. Hall said Underwood apparently failed to stop at the intersection and collided into an embankment.
He was not wearing a seat belt.
