TUPELO - Lorene R. Watson, 92, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, at the V.A. Nursing Home in Oxford. She was born Feb. 27, 1918, in Catawba County, N.C. to Yancy Brown and Lunda Baker. She served overseas in the Army as a nurse in WWII. She was head nurse of pediatrics at North Mississippi Medical Center for 17 years.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bobby Cobb officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be in Lee Memorial Park. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her four daughters, Patricia Ann Emerson of Pulaski, Tenn., Gail Willard (Jackie) of Etta, Betty Gene Adair (Neal) of Plano, Ill. and "Ginger" Mary Virginia Taylor of Etta; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son; one brother; and six sisters.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.

OLIVE HILL, Tenn. - Mary Lorine Murphy, 69, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

OXFORD - Tommie L. Shelby, 69, died Feb. 3, 2011 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford.

Marvin Morrison
PONTOTOC - Marvin Lamar Morrison, 86, of Pontotoc, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, at Pontotoc Hospital. He was born Dec. 2, 1924, in Pontotoc County to Lawrence Morrison and Lillian Owen Morrison. During his earlier years, he farmed until starting his own business. He started ML Morrison amp& Sons Service Station on Main Street, where he worked for the past 59 years. He was an active member of the Civitan Club, and he enjoyed bird hunting and fishing. He was highly thought of by everyone who knew him. He was a member of West Heights Baptist Church, where he served as an usher for more than 40 years.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at West Heights Baptist Church with Dr. David Hamilton and Bro. Dan Young officiating. Burial will be in West Heights Cemetery. Baldwin-Nowell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Nellie Rose Corder Morrison; six daughters, Joyce Warren (Dexter) and Patsy Collums, both of Pontotoc, Lena Cherry (Harvey) of Calera, Ala., Nelda Brisco of Memphis, Myra Humphries (Donny) of Cranford, N.J. and June McKnight (Ray) of Pontotoc; two sons, James Ray Morrison and Lamar Morrison, both of Pontotoc; one sister, Marie Robbins (Wylie) of Memphis; two brothers, Clinton Morrison (Alice) and Walter Morrison (Jean), both of Pontotoc; sister-in-law, Ethel Morrison of Pontotoc; brother-in-law, John Owen of Bruce; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Oudie Pennington Morrison; and one brother, Gerney Morrison.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Civitan Club.
Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. today at the church.

Bobby Wallace
FARMINGTON - Bobby H. Wallace, 76, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, at his home. He was born on Friday, Sept. 14, 1934, to Vance and Eva Mae Roberts Wallace. He was a member of Farmington Baptist Church and a retired truck driver. He was Master Mason, 32nd degree Mason and past W.M. of Lodge No. 116. He served his country in the United States Army. His was assigned to the military police during the Korean War. During his service, he received the National Defense Medal, Korean Defense Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. After retirement, Bobby drove a tour bus and worked with Hopkins Truck Sales. His favorite past time was riding his motorcycle, a Harley Davidson, which he was an avid fan of.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Farmington Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Nall officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be in the church cemetery. McPeters Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Nell Wallace; two sons, Stephen Wallace and wife, Gina and Randy Vance Wallace, all of Corinth; stepdaughter, Debra Smith and husband, Perry of Cario; stepsons, Billy Wayne Taylor and wife, Susan and Ronnie Wade Taylor, both of Corinth; two sisters, Maxine Wilbanks of Counce, Tenn. and Betty Sue Byrd of Corinth; three brothers, Buddy Wallace, Billy Wallace and Tommie Wallace, all of Corinth; three grandchildren, Stephen B. Wallace, Amy L. Joslin and Joseph P. Wallace; six step grandchildren, Terry Smith, Shanna Marie Wigginton, Jacob Smith, Zeb Taylor, Lindsey Taylor and Jodie Taylor; and three great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Timothy Chad Wallace; and a sister, Donnie Opal Pace.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The body will lie in state at the church from 1 p.m. until service time today.

LAMAR - Mary B. "Sis" Carpenter, 90, died Feb. 5, 2011, at home. She was born Feb. 18, 1920, in Moscow, Tenn. She was a member of Lamar Presbyterian Church and a homemaker.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Holly Springs. Holly Springs Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her son, Elwood Carpenter (Linda) of Conyers, Ga.; two daughters, Marilyn C. Joyner of Memphis and Sarah Gullick (Richard) of Lamar; three sisters, Addie Mae Bolden of Holly Springs, Frances Allen of Lamar and Mable Boone of Holly Springs; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Skelton Byrd; her husband, Guy Carpenter; and an infant son.

Leroy Shook
ARTESIA - Leroy Shook, 63, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-GT in Columbus. Leroy Shook was born Dec. 4, 1947, in Columbus to Gertrude Blankenship and Usco Shook. He worked proudly as a dairy farmer since 1981 in the Artesia Community and previously for the U.S.D.A. at Mississippi State University. He received his bachelor's degree in Ag-Econ at M.S.U. in 1974. Mr. Shook was a member of Artesia Baptist Church since 1981 where he served as chairman of the deacons. Leroy Shook married Elwanda Spence Shook on July 31, 1971, in Greenwood.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Artesia Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Morgan officiating and the Rev. Regan Rye and the Rev. Ben Yarber assisting. Burial will follow in Curtis Chapel Cemetery. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Elwanda Spence Shook of Artesia; two sons, Jonathan Matthew Shook (Lindsey) of Pensacola, Fla. and Joshua Wilburn Shook of Artesia; two brothers, Leon Shook (Fay) of Sturgis and Wayne Shook (Wanda); and one sister, Wanda Shook Grantham (Tommy), all of Douglas, Ga.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his uncle and aunt, who reared him, Wilburn and Norene Lummus.
Pallbearers will be Brad Butler, Kenneth Graves, Roy Loggins, Mark Bolin, Michael Freely and Roy Gene Fisher.

PONTOTOC - Elzie T. Hester, 57, died Feb. 6, 2011, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. He loved all outdoor activities, including hunting and fishing. He worked cutting hay and tending cattle.

PRAIRIE - Margaret Earlean Smitherman Guest, 78, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born May 15, 1932, to Grady Smitherman and Bertie Barnes Smitherman in Monroe County. She was a life long resident of Monroe County, where she was a homemaker. She was a member of Faith Bible Church in Houston.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Chapel in Aberdeen with Bro. Johnny Cherry and Bro. Terry Rhodes officiating. Burial will be in Oddfellows Rest Cemetery. Tisdale-Lann Funeral Home of Aberdeen is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include three daughters, Brenda Henley and husband, James "Bud" of Una; Nan Jenkins and husband, James of Anniston, Ala. and Libby Tipton and husband, Kenny of Pheba; two sisters, Mary Smith of Una and Beatrice Nelson of Amory; six grandchildren, Margo (Billy) Barnette, Rachel Henley Sparkman (John), Amy Self (Les), Michael Jenkins (Coco), April Brown (Michael) and Holly Simmons (Jon); and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sidney Douglas Guest; four sisters; and seven brothers.

TUPELO - Anna Katherine Crumpton, "Katy" Bryson, 83, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, at The Arrington Place in Columbus, where she had resided just over a year. Katy was a beloved mother to Charles, Lynne, John and Hannah; a doting grandmother; and the widow of Russel Bryson. She was a longtime active member of First Presbyterian Church in Tupelo, a legendary 4-H Club and Home Demonstration leader, an avid Mississippi State supporter, a dedicated community volunteer and a former Junior Auxiliary Citizen of the Year in Tupelo.
A celebration of her life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, at Tupelo's First Presbyterian Church. Graveside services will be private. Holland Funeral Directors, Tupelo Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
