In the wake of the storm system, strong Arctic high pressure will settle across the area Thursday through Friday. Available snow on the ground combined with clearing skies will allow the coldest air mass of the season to envelop the region. Temperatures Thursday and Friday mornings will be bitterly cold with wind chills in the single digits. (National Weather Service)
According to the National Weather Service, there is a 100 percent chance of snow for Tupelo and the surrounding areas.
Snow and sleet with accumulation is predicted for Wednesday morning and afternoon. Meteorologists believe the snowfall will hit two to four inches Wednesday night.
Wednesday is expected to have a high of 41 degrees and Thursday is predicted to hit 34 degrees.
The snowfall should arrive around 3-4 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Memphis, and the region is in a winter storm warning.
