RIPLEY — The Tippah County Sheriff's Department and Ripley Fire Department were dispatched to a burning vehicle just off Industrial Park Road in Ripley at approximately 10 a.m. Thursday morning.

One occupant, an unidentified black female, was severely burned and transported to Tippah County Hospital. She was likely to be air-lifted to a burn center, according to Tippah County Sheriff Karl Gaillard. The incident is still under investigation.

The vehicle, which appeared to be a late-model white Chevy Blazer, was located approximately 200 yards off Industrial Park Road, just west of its intersection with Miss. 15. Gaillard said the woman exited the vehicle, ran back to the road and flagged down a vehicle for help.
