Ashleigh Buntin, 17, died late Thursday night when her car ran off County Road 700 and crashed in south Tippah County. She was on her way home after finishing work at McDonald’s in Ripley.
South Tippah Superintendent Frank Campbell said Friday afternoon the district brough in pastors as well as counselors from other district schools to help students deal with their grief.

She was southbound in a Chevrolet Cavalier when the vehicle left the east side of the road, struck a pine tree, spun, came to rest on the driver’s side and caught fire.
There were no skid marks on the road, according to Tippah authorities. She was alone in the vehicle.
Blue Mountain volunteer firefighters responded at about 11 p.m. to extinguish the fire. They requested help from Ripley volunteer firefighters, who provided power rescue equipment.
The crash took place about a mile south of the Miss. 368 intersection, firefighters said.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The wreck was investigated by the Tippah County Sheriff’s Department.
