BancorpSouth cuts dividend to 1 cent

TUPELO – BancorpSouth said Wednesday it would pay a dividend of 1 cent a share on July 1 to shareholders of record on June 15.

Company Chairman and CEO Aubrey Patterson said the cut in dividend from 11 cents in the previous quarter was to “better preserve BancorpSouth’s strong capital position.”

On Monday, BancorpSouth reported a first-quarter loss of $494,000 for the first quarter.
