New Albany man dies in traffic accident

The Mississippi Highway Patrol continues to investigate a two car accident that claimed the life of a New Albany man.

Troopers responded to the accident scene on MS 15, near County Road 94, at approximately 2:45 p.m.

Upon arriving, it appeared LeChristopher Gipson, 21, of New Albany, was traveling North in a 1990 Pontiac Bonneville when his vehicle apparently crossed over into oncoming traffic and collided head on into a 2001 Buick Le Sabre, driven by Linda Grubbs, 61, of New Albany.

Gipson received fatal injuries in the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a seat belt.

Grubbs and a 2-year-old passenger was transported to Baptist Hospital in New Albany with non life threatening injuries.

Grubbs was wearing a seat belt and the toddler was properly restrained in a child restraint.

The accident remains under investigation.
